Course Overview:

This three-day training provides a comprehensive understanding of Q-switch ND YAG lasers,
focusing on laser physics, tissue interactions, clinical applications, laser safety, and hands-on
training. Designed for clinicians, this course will equip participants with the theoretical
knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective and safe use of Q-switch ND YAG lasers in
clinical settings.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of Q-switch ND YAG laser physics.
- Explain the laser-tissue interaction principles specific to Q-switch ND YAG.
- Recognize safety protocols and ANSI standards relevant to Q-switch lasers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating Q-switch ND YAG lasers for various clinical applications,
including tattoo removal and pigmentation treatments.
- Troubleshoot common laser issues and perform basic maintenance.

Day 1: Laser Physics and Safety

- Principles of laser physics
- Q-switch mechanism and pulse characteristics
- Overview of wavelengths: Nanosecond and Picosecond pulses
- 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM – Laser-Tissue Interactions
- Selective photo thermolysis and target chromophores
- Differences in tissue effects between nanosecond and picosecond pulses
- 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM – Laser Safety Essentials
- Overview of ANSI Z136.3 standards for laser use
- Safety equipment and protective measures
- Eye protection and exposure limits

BIOMEDICAL SPECIALISTS: IMAGING | LASERS | PHACO
- 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM – Laser Room Set-Up and Safety Protocols
- Proper laser setup and calibration
- Emergency procedures and equipment handling

Day 2: Clinical Applications and Hands-On Practice

- 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM – Clinical Applications of Q-switch ND YAG Lasers
- Indications: Tattoo removal, pigmentation treatments, skin rejuvenation
- Patient selection and consultation protocols
- Expected outcomes and potential side effects
- 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM – Treatment Parameters and Technique Optimization
- Adjusting settings for different skin types and treatment areas
- Depth penetration and spot size considerations
- Cooling and post-treatment care
