ALMA ERROR CODES

Common alma error codes
Troubleshooting common ALMA error codes including “iButton INC Failed,” “RS232 CS Error,” “FlowSw Error,” “Driver Error Overtemp,” and more. Learn what these errors mean, their likely causes, and when professional inspection or handpiece refurbishment is required to restore safe, reliable system performance.

“iButton INC Failed” and “Head Error iButton Failed” :

These error codes indicate a problem with the iButton chip inside the handpiece.  The data on the chip is either corrupted or there is a bad connection with the iButton chip.  We have the ability to reprogram and reset all iButton chips for all Alma handpieces.

“RS232 CS Error” and “RS232 WD Error”:

These error codes indicate a problem with the communications inside the machine.  A thorough inspection of the machine is needed to identify the exact problem.

Connect Interlock:

This error code indicates a problem with the interlock connector.  The connector maybe loose or defective.

“FlowSw Error” and “FlowSw OFF Error”:

These error codes indicate a problem with the water flow.  There could be several causes to this issue such as obstructed water flow inside the handpiece, obstructed water flow inside the machine, a problem with the flow switch sensor, or a water pump failure.

Water Level Low:

This error code indicates a low water level inside the machine.  Refilling the water will most likely resolve the problem.  Ensure that there are no water leaks in the machine or inside the handpieces which could have led to this issue.

Simmer Error:

This error code indicates a problem with the IPL handpiece lamp.  Either the lamp is defective or there is a wiring issue inside the handpiece.  Most often a refurbishment of the handpiece with a new lamp is needed.

Head Error VB1=0 VB2=0:

This error code indicates either a problem with the IPL handpiece or a problem with the switching module inside the machine.  A thorough inspection of the machine is needed to identify the exact problem.

“Driver Error Laser Off” and “Driver Error Over Curr”:

hese error codes indicate a problem with the diodes inside the laser handpiece.  This most often results from weakening of the diodes inside the handpiece which happens after prolonged use.  The handpiece in this case would need to be refurbished and the diodes would need to be replaced inside of the handpiece.

Driver Error Overtemp: This error code indicates either a problem with laser handpiece overheating.   It could be caused by either weak diodes, poor water flow inside the handpiece, or a problem with the temperature sensor inside the handpiece. A thorough inspection of the laser handpiece is needed to identify the exact problem.

“Save Data Error” and “Date Time Error”: These error codes indicate a problem with the computer inside the machine.  A thorough inspection of the machine is needed to identify the exact problem
